DEFLECTA ANTIMICROBIAL® was applied to 'The EKKA' complex carpark concrete floor and columns, ground to level 3 and the animal pavilion.
The Royal Queensland Show 'The EKKA' is one of the world's largest cattle shows and Queensland's largest and most loved annual event. It attracts on average 400,000 people, more than 21,000 competition entries from woodchop to giant vegetables, 10,000 animals from beef cattle to cats and dogs, world-class live entertainment, award-winning food and wine, car shows, carnival rides, showbags, and much more.
The client required advice on selecting the most appropriate product for their concerns. They were in need of a prevention of urine ingress, a bacteria free environment for the animal shows and a sanitised odour free car park facility for their patrons.
DEFLECTA® provided The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA), The EKKA facility with a sanitised concrete slab, with internal moisture control and free of odour, a bacteria free curing agent.
Architects – Shane Thompson, Builder – Lendlease and Developer/Clients – Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association were satisfied that DEFLECTA ANTIMICROBIAL® was the best option to use in the new development with the product also being certified by the Australian Government ‘APVMA’ (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority) which gave clarity on a safe product to use near humans and animals.
For 142 years the RNA has encouraged the development of the agricultural, industrial and cultural resources of Queensland. The RNA owns and operates the Brisbane Showgrounds at Bowen Hills, Brisbane, and stages the Royal Queensland Show - 'The EKKA'.
